Conover
Insurance, Inc., has been providing agricultural insurance
services to Pacific Northwest growers for many years. In order
to provide the best possible service to our Ag clients, we
recently created, ConAg, an exclusive division dedicated to
the Ag industry. The Conover name has long been known for
providing exceptional customer service and our size enables
us to maintain strong relationships with several major crop
insurance companies. Products we provide include:
Multi-Peril Crop Insurance
Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) is the cornerstone of
the crop insurance program, as it is the one policy from which
all other insurance types have been developed. MPCI offers
a yield guarantee, based on the Actual Production History
(APH) of the individual producer. Covered perils vary by crop,
but can include protection from such hazards as drought, flood,
insects, disease, hurricane and other adverse weather conditions.
Available since the mid-1930s, MPCI provides protection for
approximately 75 different crops nationwide.
Crop Hail
Millions of dollars are paid each year to producers for damage
to their crops caused by hail. This is in addition to any
payment received on the Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI)
policy or the newer revenue insurance products, like Crop
Revenue Coverage (CRC), Revenue Assurance (RA) or Income Protection
(IP). While your MPCI policy protects you against losses severe
enough to significantly drop the whole unit yield average,
Crop Hail insurance gives you acre by acre protection that
can be up to the actual cash value of the crop.
Adjusted
Gross Revenue (AGR)
Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) is a non-traditional, whole farm
risk management tool that uses a producer's historic Schedule
F (or equivalent) form information as a base to provide a
level of guaranteed revenue for the insurance period.
Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC)
Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC) is a Multiple Peril Crop Insurance
(MPCI)-based revenue insurance product that gives the producer
guaranteed revenue protection by extending crop insurance
protection based on Actual Production History (APH) to include
price as well as yield variability. CRC protects loss of revenue
caused by low price, low yield or any combination of the two.
Revenue Assurance
Revenue Assurance (RA) is a Multiple Peril Crop Insurance
(MPCI)-based policy that gives producers a revenue guarantee
to protect against reductions in income when prices or yields
decline. Producers who use the RA policy to support their
marketing decisions may choose to add the Harvest Price Option
to their policy. With this added feature, the insurance guarantee
is recalculated at harvest. If prices are higher than at planting,
the higher harvest price is used to figure the guarantee for
the policy. The Harvest Price Option addresses the problem
producers face in their marketing plans when harvest prices
go up. With the Harvest Price Option selected, RA performs
essentially the same as CRC.
Income Protection
Income Protection is a revenue insurance policy that protects
against reductions in gross income when yields or prices fall.
An indemnity is paid when the income is less than the guaranteed
income as a result of a reduction in price or yield from an
insured cause. Income Protection is usually less expensive
than other Revenue products, like CRC and RA, because the
Revenue Guarantee is set in the spring and is fixed. This
means it does not increase if the harvest price is higher
than the spring estimated price.
Group Risk Plan (GRP)
GRP
is an area-based insurance product that pays an indemnity
when the county-average yield is less than the producer's
selected trigger yield. GRP differs from traditional crop
insurance approaches, with less paperwork and generally less
cost than Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) products.
